The Magic of Synchronicity: It’s All Around You!

  1. Coincidence of events that seem to be meaningfully related, conceived in  Jungian theory as an explanatory principle on the same order as causality.
  2.  The experience of two or more events which  are causally unrelated occurring together in a supposedly meaningful manner. In  order to count as synchronicity, the events should be unlikely to occur together  by chance.

synchronocityLast week while checking up on my friends on Facebook, I saw that one of my friends made a  statement about how much fun it is when things happen in synchronicity. She  mentioned a recent success and how it seemed to just come from out of the blue,  like magic!

I am very happy for my friend and her newfound success, but her statement  about synchronicity really got me thinking. See, I don’t think synchronicity is  a random act of coincidence at all. In fact, I don’t even believe in  coincidence. Rather, I believe that our benevolent Universe (you can use your  favorite term for it: God, Supreme Intelligence, Zero Point Field, Energy) is  always conspiring for our greatest good and that synchronicity is a natural  state and it happens all the time – in every situation!

Follow me here. In our limited understanding of things as human beings, we  are conditioned to be surprised by our successes and much more apt to accept  mediocrity. And with our limited vision, we cannot see the big picture and how  ALL of it: the good, the bad and the ugly are all pieces of this synchronistic  pie.

It’s easy for us to believe in the magic of synchronicity when seemingly “good things” happen to us, but what about the “bad stuff,” like divorce,  illness and or even loss through death? We have a tendency to judge those events  as punishment, curses or bad luck. What if I were to say to you that those  events are also the good workings of our benevolent Universe? Would you believe  me?

Imagine if these negative experiences were actually gifts. Since we cannot  possibly see our full potential, coupled with our human tendency to stay in our  comfort zones, what if these negative experiences present themselves as a means  to push us towards our greatness? After all, isn’t expansion the purpose of our  lives?

What if that heart-ache of a divorce instilled in you self reliance that you  didn’t know you had? And you then model that behavior to your children, who grow  up to be safe and secure in themselves.  The ripple effect could be endless!

Think of people, maybe even yourself, who have survived life threatening  illnesses. Many of these people are stronger and healthier than they ever were  and they are champions of causes helping people in great numbers with their  stories, experience, support and compassion.

We can easily view crisis as defeat and resist it. Or we can embrace it and  know that it is a loving shove from the  Universe reminding us of our brilliance and to stretch, grow and expand into our  divine potential.

We can shift our perception in the snap of our fingers to realize that even  the not-so-good stuff are definitely pieces of that mysterious, beautiful and  benevolent synchronistic pie… and that synchronicity, divine connections, magic  is happening all around us.

Just look for it and you’ll begin to see it everywhere, all the time!

Love & Blessings!

Where Did My Synchronicity Go?

The first time you really experience a synchronistic event in your life, you feel a real sense of wonder and awe. It can be difficult quite simply because you get so excited about it that you want to tell everyone, and more often than not, you’ll get blown off and people will discount it as a coincidence.

As synchronicity keeps happening you begin to get that sense of destiny I love to talk about so much. You begin to see the order that lies beneath the surface of what we think is a chaotic and random world. You begin to feel a sense of safety and your faith strengthens.

You ride the wave and wonderful unexpected things happen, life clicks into place at all the right moments. You find yourself in the right place at the right time and you start loving the simple act of living.

Then one day you wake up, expecting the trend to continue and wham, there it goes. Your winning streak runs out.

You look around at things suddenly taking the opposite momentum. Your tire blows. Your boss hands you the pink slip. Life gets tough again. You wonder, “gee, did I do something wrong?”

Sometimes the answer is yes, you just took a big step in the wrong direction. You made a choice that was out of alignment with your destiny. When you do that, rebalancing is going to happen. You’ll receive as much displeasure as it takes to provoke you back along the straight and narrow. This isn’t a punishment. It is really nothing personal at all. It is simply a predictable way to get you back on track.

There are a few things I can assure you will cause this to happen with certainty. It may take awhile to show up, but it certainly will if you continue in these actions.

The most certain way to stop synchronicity is to dwell in thoughts of anger, judgement or fear.

If you’re paying too much attention to the news and your obsessing over the fine job our president has made of ruining our economy, or you’re worried about the gas climbing to 5.00 a gallon, or if you just can’t get over an argument you had with your spouse and you brood about it, it will take you out of the flow.

Anger is the fear of not getting what you want, fear is the belief that something awful will happen, judgement is when you have to be right. All of these things impede the flow. The reason is you are taking yourself out of the now and either harping on the past or fretting about the future.

Synchronicity occurs when you are living in the NOW.

By accepting exactly where you are in this moment, you embrace the now. So if you are currently laid out with the flu, think, “This is wonderful, my body is telling me I need to relax for awhile. I must have ignored it too long. No matter, I’ll rest and take this time to enjoy my bed.” If you find yourself in the unemployment line, say, “This is a wonderful new opportunity to explore new avenues of expressing my talents.” By taking this positive attitude about where you are now, you allow the flow to carry you to the next step.

This is one the biggest secrets I used to survive cancer, bankruptcy and divorce. Trust me, this really works.

The Buddha said it is only the things we resist that cause us to suffer.

Synchronicity ~ more than a coincidence

Synchronicity ~ more than a coincidence

Synchronicity ~ more than a coincidence

Synchronicity.

To me, when an event is so coincidental that it cannot just simply be a random set of circumstances, I do believe there is a significance of such mystery that it may never be explained.

I also love scientists’ attempts to rationalise the mystery of life, and at the same time I feel sort of sorry for them that they cannot fully appreciate the divine behind the beauty they are trying to dissect.

I also love coincidence. Maybe because I am a lover of the mysterious, a watcher for divine intervention and a receptacle for spirit to work through me. At times I am often told stories, usually unprompted, of coincidence which I feel have such synchronicity and intelligence about them that, surely, they can only have been orchestrated by something Divine and brilliant.

I met an acquaintance in the library and stopped to share her table in the canteen for a quick coffee. The lady told me she is moving away from the area. She had been looking at moving to Norfolk and on spotting an area called ‘Little Snoring’ on the map, she had jokingly called her husbands attention to it. ‘I don’t care where we go on the coast, as long as it is not there’ she told him.

Looking for houses on the internet came up with the perfect house, price, size, style.. it’s location? Little Snoring. So, despite the address, they headed off for a viewing. As they walked around the house, this lady noticed some numbers etched into a beam in the main bedroom. ‘what is that?’ she asked. The vendor smiled and explained it was the day, month and year she gave birth to her only son. My friend also smiled, it was the exact day, month and year of her own marriage. They had their offer accepted on this house, the only house they felt a need to view and they will be moving shortly.

I loved this story, it is a reminder to me that there is more to the Universal wonders that can ever be completely explained.
