Jealousy ~ The Green Eyed Monster
Throughout life there are many things that can take us from our true intentions and off our true pathway one of those things is `Jealousy ~ the green eyed monster’ this can effect us, our lives and our futures to such a great extent it can ruin and destroy the “real us” and very often rears it’s ugly head at this time of year. A time when the real sentiments should be love, kindness and good will to all.
What is Jealousy?
When jealous feelings come up, it’s usually because we’re afraid that we won’t get our needs of one kind or another met. It’s been our experience that when jealousy comes up, somewhere within us, we are crying out for help.
Causes Of Jealously
It shows up when one person or both people in the relationship are very insecure in their relationship or in life. Jealous feelings come up with a partner, or others, whose actions haven’t warranted it.
Whatever is going on–whether the jealousy is “warranted” or not–fear is at the bottom of those feelings and there’s a lot more going on than what is on the surface. Until we look at those fears and begin to heal them, no matter what relationship we’re in, jealousy will creep in again and again.
In their descriptions about their jealousy challenges, many people talk about “withdrawing,” “getting quiet,” “becoming numb,” “saying things they didn’t mean” and “lashing out.” These behaviours are all ways to shield, protect and insulate themselves from the pain they are feeling inside themselves.
Overcoming Jealousy Through The Power Of Positive Thinking
Pay attention to your thoughts: In order to control jealousy you will first have to learn where your jealousy is coming from. There is always a cause for jealousy to arise and once you have those causes figured out, controlling it will become easier. You must take a pause every time you feel jealous and ask yourself why you feel that way. Does it have something to do with your own self-esteem, or does the person you are in a relationship with provide you with good reasons to feel this way? etc…
